Explore the Catholic Church
A faith lived together.
The Catholic Church is a worldwide community centered on Jesus Christ. Its life brings together prayer, worship, Scripture, the sacraments, and service to others.
What do Catholics believe?
Catholics believe in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human, that he died and rose again, and that he calls us to love God and our neighbors.
The Church receives and passes on this faith through Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Questions are a natural part of learning; you do not have to understand everything before beginning.
Why do Catholics go to Mass?
Mass is the central celebration of Catholic worship. We gather to hear Scripture, pray together, and celebrate the Eucharist. Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.
Faith also reaches beyond Sunday: caring for people in need, forgiving one another, and learning to love in daily life.
Curious about becoming Catholic?
A local parish can help you explore the faith through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, often called OCIA. Begin by asking about an inquiry conversation. If you are already Catholic and have been away, a priest or parish staff member can help you find a way back.
