Plan a visit
You are welcome to come and see.
You can attend Mass even if you are not Catholic, have been away for years, or are simply curious. A little preparation can help you feel more at ease.
Before you go.
Find a nearby Catholic parish and check its own website for current Mass times, directions, parking, and accessibility information. You can also call the parish office and say, “I’m new and would like to visit.”
Find a Catholic parish →When you arrive.
Allow a few extra minutes to find a seat. A greeter or usher can help with questions. There will be readings from the Bible, a homily, prayers, and the celebration of the Eucharist.
You may notice people standing, sitting, and kneeling. Follow along as you are comfortable and able. You can listen quietly when you do not know the responses.
A note about Communion.
Everyone is welcome to attend Mass. Receiving Holy Communion has specific requirements in the Catholic Church. If you are unsure whether to receive, you can remain in your seat during Communion and speak with the priest before or after Mass.
Take the next step at your own pace.
Introduce yourself after Mass, ask about a parish gathering, or arrange a conversation with a priest. If you are exploring the faith, ask about OCIA or an inquiry group. You are welcome to bring your questions.
